Dr. Seuss Invitations

DIY Dr. Seuss Invitation, and free template!

I’m the kind of person that likes to plan things in advance. Wayyyyyyy in advance. Like start planning my daughter’s first birthday party the week she was born in advance.

Yes. I know. I’m crazy.

And no, I’m not kidding about beginning to plan her first birthday the week she was born. Blame it on my Type A personality.

But really, can you blame me? The moment your little chunkers is born you just can’t help but think of all the milestones they’ll hit – especially the one year mark.

I have always loved Dr. Seuss, something about the rhyming, the colors, and the made up words really speaks to me! Needless to say that is exactly the theme I wanted for our baby girl’s first birthday.

I really like to make things by hand (you can see some of the things I’ve made here and here).I think it makes it that much more special. So, I decided that I wanted to make our Dr. Seuss invitations by hand too!

When I was in high school I went through this baking phase. My parents, being the supportive and super-de-duper loving people that they are, put my in cake decorating classes at my local classes. They bought me something very similar to this, so that I would have all the supplies I would need to start off. I absolutely loved it, but it was hard to make time to go to the classes with all the extracurricular activities I had joined.

I was bummed because I really, really, really wanted to learn how to work with fondant.

Fast forward almost 10 years later and I realized that there is such a thing as Marshmallow fondant, and that you can make it from home, and say whattttttttt…. it costs less than five dollars to make!

I was sold.

Since then, I have made two fondant cakes! They haven’t come out perfect, but they’re not entirely hideous either! I can only improve from here.

Trust me, if I can make these cakes, so can you!

Let’s do this!

I don’t know about you, but I absolutely LOVE board games. All kinds. It’s been that way since I was a little kid. Something about musical chairs, and freeze-tag never really spoke to me.

As an adult my love for board games has only grown. I have over 20 board games, and card games and I continue add to my collection. Don’t judge me.

I really enjoy having friends over and just playing games! It’s a great way to get to know people, have fun, talk, and of course, there is always some “friendly” competition going on. However, it isn’t always easy getting a group of friends together because our schedules are so different! Luckily for me, my husband enjoys playing games as much as I do and we often find ourselves in competition mode.

Despite what he may think. I basically always win.

Here are 5 of my all favorite games! These games are fantastic because they are not only great for large groups, but they also work perfectly for two people. Instant date night.

Footnote to God

Learning to Count your Blessings

Whenever we refer to someone’s work in a paper we write, or whenever we quote someone in a talk, it is always important that we give credit to whoever’s work or words we mention. We do this by either referencing them, giving a quick “shout-out”, or by way of a footnote.

Now here’s a thought for you, if it is important for us to give credit to others for their work is it not even more important for us to give credit to God for His work?

2 Ways to Soothe Your Baby’s Skin

I don't know about you, but when I got my little bundle of joy, I was surprised to see how many deliciously yummy rolls she came with. So much so, that she had very (and I mean very dry skin) behind her knees, in her neck rolls, and every other roll that was in her body.

Mother's Day Gift Ideas

Mother’s Day is one of the most stressful days of the year for me (along with Father’s Day) because I think it is such a difficult task to get my mom something special that shows how much I love and appreciate her, and also have it be something she will love and use. Especially since every year my brother kicks my butt by writing some fancy shmancy poem for her. Gotta love sibling rivalry.

So this year, this is what I have in mind.

Mom, if you’re reading this. You can stop now. Go away. Leave. Thanks.
