DIY Dr. Seuss Invitation, and free template!

I’m the kind of person that likes to plan things in advance. Wayyyyyyy in advance. Like start planning my daughter’s first birthday party the week she was born in advance.

Yes. I know. I’m crazy.

And no, I’m not kidding about beginning to plan her first birthday the week she was born. Blame it on my Type A personality.

But really, can you blame me? The moment your little chunkers is born you just can’t help but think of all the milestones they’ll hit – especially the one year mark.

I have always loved Dr. Seuss, something about the rhyming, the colors, and the made up words really speaks to me! Needless to say that is exactly the theme I wanted for our baby girl’s first birthday.

I really like to make things by hand (you can see some of the things I’ve made here and here).I think it makes it that much more special. So, I decided that I wanted to make our Dr. Seuss invitations by hand too!

Cricut Directions:

  1. Upload your SVG file to Cricut Design Space
  2. Create a card that is 5×8 (remember it is going to be a trip fold card)
  3. Place a score line on each side, 2 inches from the outside
  4. Cut your card and SVG figure
  5. Glue together the SVG Character
  6. Glue the character on one of the folds (let it dry standing up so that the card does not glue itself shut – this happened to me!)
  7. Edit the invitation template and paste it inside the card
